Gary Wolstenholme's bid to earn a European Tour card was dealt a blow after he slipped down the leaderboard during the first stage of the qualifying school.
The English player, who turned professional at the age of 48 last week, carded a round of eight-over-par 80 at Dundonald Links in Scotland to drop into a share of 49th place.
The top 26 players plus ties from Dundonald will go on to the second stage, and Wolstenholme is three shots adrift of where he needs to be as he heads into the fourth round.
Wolstenholme's compatriot Craig Goodfellow was the only man under par at the course, after a two-under round of 70 in windy conditions moved him to a three-under aggregate of 213 - four shots clear.
At the English leg of qualifying, staged at Chart Hills in Kent, where 30 players plus ties advance to the next stage, Sweden's Oskar Henningsson leads by two after a round of 67 put him on 17-under 199.
Englishman Danny Willett seized the lead at the German leg, at the Fleesensee club, after a third round of 66 took him to 198 - 18 under par. Thirty places in the next stage are up for grabs at the German event.
