Danny Willett strolled to victory in stage one of the European Tour's qualifying school at Fleesensee in Germany.
But there was disappointment for 48-year-old Gary Wolstenholme as the English veteran failed to make the grade at Dundonald in Ayrshire.
Willett, the former English amateur champion and Walker Cup player from Yorkshire, signed off with a three-under 69 for a 21-under aggregate of 267.
The 20-year-old, who has managed four top-20 finishes on the main tour this year both as an amateur and a rookie pro, won by three strokes from Sweden's Jens Dantorp and pocketed a cheque for Ј1,500.
Willett's former Walker Cup team-mate John Parry, of Harrogate, also progressed in a share of fifth on 274 after a 67 while Liverpool's Ian Keenan eased in on 279 despite a nervy 78.
At Dundonald, double British amateur champion Wolstenholme, who joined the professional ranks last week, closed with a battling level-par 72 but his 302 total saw him miss out on one of the qualifying spots by a single stroke.
Scotsman Euan Little, a two-time winner on the Challenge Tour, overhauled long-time leader Craig Goodfellow with a final round five-under 67 to top the standings on four under.
Goodfellow finished a stroke behind in second with Danny Gault third on 287. Warren Bladon, another former British amateur champion, fell a shot short on 302 after a 74.
Sweden's Oskar Henningsson completed a wire-to-wire victory at Chart Hills in Kent as he posted a 68 for a 21-under 267. Cambridge's Paul Maddy secured second spot on 269 while Wales' former Walker Cup player Rhys Davies qualified in fourth on 272 after a 68.
