Colin Montgomerie has pulled out of this coming week's Mercedes-Benz Championship in Cologne with a shoulder injury.
Left out of the Ryder Cup side by Nick Faldo last Sunday - he never gave himself much of a chance of selection after failing to get a top-20 finish in his last six events - Montgomerie saw two specialists and had a scan after the problem developed.
The 45-year-old Scot's next tournament now should be the Quinn Direct British Masters at The Belfry on September 25-28, the week after Europe try for a fourth successive victory against the Americans.
Lee Westwood, meanwhile, has still not been able to gain an invitation to the German event after pulling out of this week's European Masters in Switzerland with tonsilitis.
He was looking to switch and gain some competitive practice the week before his sixth cap, but as he had not originally entered his only way in looked to be a sponsor's invitation and they have already been taken by Americans Fred Couples and John Daly, Germans Bernhard Langer, Alex Cejka and Marcel Siem and Swede Daniel Chopra.
