Holmes out of PGA with hand injury

CHASKA, Minn. (AP) — J.B. Holmes has withdrawn from the PGA Championship with a hand injury.

Holmes had bogeys on three of his first four holes Friday before quitting at Hazeltine National. He shot a 4-over 76 in the first round.

Holmes, a two-time winner on the PGA Tour, is the fifth player to withdraw. Paul Casey, Robert Karlsson and Trevor Immelman withdrew before the tournament began, and John Daly dropped out with a back injury after his 6-over 78 Thursday.
